Here are the photos from the May 21st 2014 Fantastic Fiction at KGB reading series with Laird Barron and Paul Tremblay, who read to a very full house:
My Book Expo schedule for next week
I’ll be attending Ny Book Fair Expo all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday-much of the time I’ll be helping run the HWA Booth #2558.
I’ll be giving away/signing copies of The Best Horror of the Year volume 6 Friday 1:30-2pm at the SFWA Booth #2561 and Saturday 12-1pm at the HWA Booth.
I hope you’ll all come by and say hi. I’ll have time in between manning the booth to investigate/collect swag and also perhaps hang out a little. Friends can phone me on my cel, although service isn’t great in the Hall from what I remember. Best to email me the day/night before to connect (I don’t have a smart phone so trying to get me via social media during the day won’t work).
All backers of Fearful Symmetries who requested the e-book should have have received them by now. If you have not, did you give us your preferred format and the correct email address? Please check and if you need to, feel free to contact us.
The print book should be mailed out to all backers this week and next. If you don’t receive it in a timely manner, again, please make sure you gave us your mailing address.
I hope everyone enjoys reading Fearful Symmetries as much as I enjoyed editing it.
For those readers who didn’t back it, you can pre-order it for e-book or in print now at various places:
Stoker, WHC weekend, visits, shopping, eating, and the Nebulas
So I had a wonderful mostly busy 10 days visiting the west coast.
I attended the HWA Stoker/World Horror Convention weekend in Portland, Oregon, then stayed overnight with a friend. While in Portland, I sampled too much chocolate (and I’m not even that interested in chocolate), ate a voodoo donut that only impressed me with the fact that the chocolate icing on top somehow dribbled all over an offwhite vintage blouse I was wearing.
Then on to San Francisco, where I stayed overnight with my lovely Tachyon publishers. We ate wonderful Japanese food that night.
Tuesday I was picked up by another friend who took me shop shop shopping all over Oakland, checking out most of the vintage clothing shops (where I bought a 40s dress –my decade–and a gorgeous short black kimono with spider webs all over it, in white. (photos hopefully will show up somewhere–I wore it to the Nebula awards. )
Lots of good food including Vik’s Chaat–Indian street food-for lunch, dinner with some local folk at Ippuku in Berkeley (highly recommended) that had fabulous grilled Japanese food with Summer Snow sake.
Finally my friend Ysabeau Wilce and I drove down to San Jose for the day Saturday the 18th where we both sat on panels, socialized, and then attended the Nebula Awards…
